FED:Owner-occupier housing finance up 2.1pc

SYDNEY, Feb 14 AAP - The number of new home loans for owner-occupiers rose 2.1 per
cent in December, to a seasonally adjusted 51,706, official data shows.

Economists' forecasts had centred on a 1.0 per cent rise in housing finance commitments
for the month.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) said total housing finance by value rose
by 2.5 per cent in December, seasonally adjusted, to $21.587 billion.

The ABS said flooding in Queensland did not affect this data collection.
