Fed: Latham failure as shadow treasurer - Costello

Treasurer PETER COSTELLO says new Labor leader MARK LATHAM was a failure as shadow
treasurer and didn't produce one policy in five months.

Mr COSTELLO says Mr LATHAM would throw up a proposition which, as soon as it was looked
at in the light of day, melted away -- like the so-called matched savings account.

He says the opposition leader has lots of conflicting, unstable ideas.

Mr LATHAM will announce the make up of his frontbench in Sydney later today.
