NSW: Chikarovski announces new shadow cabinet
SYDNEY, Dec 14 AAP - New South Wales Opposition Leader Kerry Chikarovski announced her new
shadow cabinet today, promoting two long-time allies to the front bench.
Georges River MP Marie Ficarra will become environment spokeswoman and Northcott MP Barry
OFarrell small business and information technology spokesman under the changes announced
today.
The rest of the shadow cabinet remains the same, although legal affairs spokesman John
Hannaford takes on the arts portfolio traditionally handled by the opposition leader.
"I figure in the next 100 days I have enough to deal with as leader so Im going to spend
my time, as I said earlier, learning my portfolio responsibilities, I think I need to
concentrate on that," Mrs Chikarovski told reporters.
Peter Collins, who Mrs Chikarovski deposed last week, was not in the shadow cabinet after
his new leader told him he needed "time out" after being dumped.
Mrs Chikarovski would not rule out further changes to her team after the March state
election.
