By Nikki Todd

BRISBANE, Aug 11 AAP - The death of five people on Queensland roads this weekend hasincreased the state's accident toll to 184 for the year.

The 2002 figure has risen sharply in recent weeks, with 18 deaths recorded in the past fortnight.

But the figure is still less than for the same time last year, with police statisticsshowing 188 deaths to August 10, 2001.

The latest accident happened early today on the Sunshine Coast hinterland when a mandied in a single vehicle accident on the Kenilworth to Maleny road.

Police said the car he was driving left the road about 12.30am (AEST) and collided with trees.

His death followed that of four people yesterday.

A 25-year-old woman died in hospital after her car rolled and burst into flames ina single vehicle accident on the Bruce Highway at Bell's Creek on the Sunshine Coast.

A woman was killed at Tin Can Bay near Maryborough north of Brisbane, when a semi-trailerand a car towing a caravan collided on the Cooloola Coast Road.

And a man and a woman died in a two vehicle accident on the Tamborine Oxenford Roadabout 5km from Eagle Heights, south of Brisbane.

Police today urged motorists to take extra care and repeated their "fatal four" message- wear seat belts, don't drive fatigued, regard the speed limit as a maximum, not a minimumand don't drink and drive.

Their message followed a similar call by Premier Peter Beattie last weekend and yesterday.
